Making Connections-San Antonio
LME Resident Board Member Discription
Making Connections – San Antonio (MC-SA) is a multi-year initiative created to improve the quality of life of families living in Edgewood ISD neighborhoods. Nationally, Making Connections is a place-based, two generational transformation effort by the Annie E. Casey Foundation (AECF) to advance the premise that “Children do well when their families do well, and families do better when they live in supportive neighborhoods.” MC-SA believes that families have the best opportunity for success when they are “connected” to four kinds of support: 1) social networks of friends, neighbors, faith communities and civic groups; 2) opportunities to increase earnings and income and build assets for their family; 3) opportunities for young children to be prepared to succeed in school; and 4) services that are high quality and close to home.
